Looking Back and Facing Forward
Looking back across the well-trodden path of experience, you remember how you stumbled over slippery rocks and almost didn't make it back from that last crazy adventure. You remember how each one of those stumbles led you the place that you're standing at, right now. You are grateful for each rough patch, for each hidden pool, for each encounter along the way. That first moment of meeting,
looking into each other's eyes,
Daughter and mother, Mother and daughter.
No going back to what was before;
we've fallen head first into a new life, a new love,
the beginning of a lifelong tie – a dance of
playing and working,
laughing and crying,
holding tight and letting go.
When it's time to fly away,
hearts touch and grow closer,
even as the space between them
grows more distant.
